Hajime No Ippo Boxer Profile: Takamura Mamoru

Boredom and the desire to peck at a keyboard has driven me to this point. I shall profile several boxers from the amazing(and recently awesomely trollish) Hajime No Ippo, a manga that, if you haven't already consumed all 900+ available chapters and are waiting patiently for the next trolling, you really should click on that link to The Spectrum and read the fuck up. No need to run the risk of being smote for being uncultured, you know?

BUT ANYWAY

Takamura "The Japanese Hawk" Mamoru

Current weight class: Middleweight, plans on winning belts in the Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight(his natural weight)divisions, he has already won a belt at Jr Middleweight.

Athleticism: Takamura is a physical freak, possessing speed and power considered inhuman by his peers. Combined with his aggression, Takamura tends to overwhelm most of his opponents without much effort. A once in a life time talent.

Skill/Technique: When he's not dealing with considerable pressure, Takamuru fights with an open guard and eschews the jab in favor of wide, sweeping hooks. On a world class level, fighting like that is basically inviting your opponent to carve your face up with counters all night. It's a sloppy style that he can generally get away with thanks to his speed and power. Takamura needs to be prodded and poked before he stops brawling and starts boxing. Takamura can box with the sharpest technicians, his footwork sublime and his straight punches accurate and destructive. When Takumaru is on his game, he's virtually unstoppable.

Durability: In his fights against Bryan Hawk and David Eagle(yes laugh at the at the animal theme laugh damn you) Takamura showed himself to be indestructible both physically and mentally, the Bryan Hawk fight especially, as he starved himself to make weight, nearly driving himself insane. His will to survive is matched only by Makunouchi Ippo

IRL Comparison: Takumaru is the sort of beast that honestly exists in fiction only. Takumaru is genuinely a perfect fighter in pretty much every aspect of the game with the exception of his tendency to take his opponents lightly and showboat. Takumaru has no valid irl comparisons(that I can think of). He is in a class...of his own.
